Downtown Toronto map, postal areas and travel

Front Street East is on the eastern side of downtown—not in the Financial District.

Use this map to understand the relationship between the downtown core and the Front Street East reference point. Select a marker for orientation. The diagram is schematic, with approximate geographic placement; it is not a navigation route, legal boundary or live traffic map.

Where this guide draws downtown

The editorial focus is Bathurst Street on the west, Bloor Street on the north, the Don River on the east and the mainland waterfront on the south. The Toronto Islands are not part of this travel focus. This is our explanatory boundary, not an official municipal boundary or a promise of a clinic catchment area.

The western side includes the Entertainment District and eastern edge of the Bathurst corridor. The centre includes the Financial District, Union Station, Yonge Street and the University corridor. St. Lawrence, Corktown, Regent Park and the Canary District lie on the eastern side. Front Street East near Cherry Street is farther east than the office towers around Bay Street.

TTC: plan the final leg, not just the subway

Union Station is a major downtown interchange, but it is not beside the Front Street East reference address. TTC route 121 Esplanade–River has a published stop at Front Street East and Cherry Street. Check direction, current stops and service before leaving; diversions can change the last part of the trip. King Street is north of the reference point and provides another corridor to investigate in the trip planner.

Check the Front Street East at Cherry TTC stop · Plan a current TTC trip. Confirm accessible travel and the building entrance separately. A nearby stop does not establish a step-free route into a treatment room.

Cycling and walking

Check the City’s current cycling map for a connected route and the last approach. Do not infer a protected bike lane from a street drawn on this schematic. The Cherry Street area has construction-related changes; verify signs and current closures, including any effect on sidewalks and cycling space. For a short downtown trip, allow time to find a legal place to secure a bicycle rather than assuming indoor storage is available.

Open the City cycling network map. Walk the final block with attention to construction, crossings and the correct entrance. The diagram does not estimate walking times or certify a barrier-free route.

Driving and parking

From the wider city, the Gardiner/Lake Shore and Don Valley corridors may form part of the approach, depending on origin and current restrictions. Use current navigation for permitted exits and turns. Do not follow a remembered ramp or assume that a road’s proximity means a direct connection.

Confirm the actual parking entrance, vehicle-height limit, hours and payment terms before choosing a garage. Street parking signs govern the space in front of you. No dedicated practice parking or drop-off permission is claimed here. Check Green P parking options, and ask the office about entrance and arrival needs before travel.

Around Front and Cherry

For the immediate Front Street East approach, use the Cherry Street and Front Street CURBS card. The card helps you orient at the nearby intersection. Confirm the building entrance and current conditions separately.

Postal areas: a starting point, not an address verdict

Downtown neighbourhoods cross postal boundaries. Prefixes such as M5A, M5B, M5E, M5G, M5H, M5J, M5K, M5L, M5S, M5T, M5V, M4X and M4Y overlap parts of our focus; some extend beyond it. M5R overlaps the northern edge. Use a full address for travel.

This tool checks prefix orientation only. It does not geocode a building or find appointment availability.
